Anthropic, the AI safety company behind the Claude family of language models, has closed a $5 billion Series E funding round at a $50 billion valuation, making it one of the most valuable private technology companies in the world.
The round was led by Spark Capital and Menlo Ventures, with participation from existing investors including Google and Salesforce Ventures. Anthropic plans to use the capital to expand its research team, build additional computing infrastructure, and accelerate the development of its next-generation AI systems.
CEO Dario Amodei emphasized that the company remains focused on developing AI that is safe, beneficial, and aligned with human values as capabilities continue to advance rapidly.
