South African-founded AI infrastructure startup Cerebrium announced a $180 million Series B funding round today led by Andreessen Horowitz, bringing its total funding to $220 million and valuing the company at $1.2 billion.

Cerebrium provides serverless GPU compute that allows AI companies to deploy and scale models without managing infrastructure. The platform supports instant cold starts, automatic scaling, and pay-per-millisecond billing across NVIDIA H100 and H200 GPU clusters.

The company plans to use the funding to expand its data center footprint from three to twelve regions globally and launch a dedicated inference optimization engine that promises 3x performance improvements for transformer-based models.
