Canadian AI startup Cohere has closed an $800 million Series D funding round led by Salesforce Ventures and PSP Investments, valuing the company at $14 billion. The funding will be used to expand Cohere's enterprise-focused AI platform and build out data center infrastructure in North America and Europe.

Cohere differentiates itself from OpenAI and Anthropic by focusing exclusively on business applications with strong data privacy guarantees. The company's models can be deployed entirely within a customer's own cloud environment, addressing concerns about sensitive data leaving corporate networks.

CEO Aidan Gomez said the funding reflects growing enterprise demand for AI solutions that prioritize security and customizability. Cohere's customer base has grown to over 4,000 enterprises including McKinsey, Oracle, and Fujitsu, with annual recurring revenue exceeding $350 million.
