Boston Dynamics has unveiled Atlas 2.0, a commercial version of its humanoid robot specifically designed for warehouse and logistics operations. The robot stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 155 pounds, and can carry payloads of up to 55 pounds while navigating complex warehouse environments autonomously.
Atlas 2.0 features enhanced dexterity with 28 degrees of freedom in its manipulators, allowing it to pick, pack, and sort items with human-like precision. The robot uses a combination of LiDAR, stereo cameras, and force sensors to understand its environment and handle objects of varying shapes and weights without prior programming.
Boston Dynamics is offering Atlas 2.0 through a robotics-as-a-service model priced at approximately $150,000 per year per unit, including maintenance and software updates. DHL and FedEx are among the first customers deploying the robots in pilot programs at distribution centers in Ohio and Tennessee.
