OpenAI has officially launched GPT-5, its most advanced language model to date, featuring reasoning capabilities that match or exceed human experts across a range of professional benchmarks. The model scored in the 95th percentile on the bar exam, medical licensing exams, and graduate-level mathematics tests.
Key improvements include a dramatically expanded context window of 1 million tokens, native multimodal understanding of text, images, audio, and video, and significantly reduced hallucination rates compared to GPT-4. The model also demonstrates improved ability to acknowledge uncertainty.
GPT-5 is available through the OpenAI API with tiered pricing starting at $15 per million input tokens. ChatGPT Plus subscribers will gain access over the next two weeks in a phased rollout.
